Zynga appoints first female board member
Ellen Siminoff joins social gaming giant's audit committee.
Social gaming company Zynga has appointed a woman to its board of directors for the first time.
Ellen Siminoff, president and CEO of publishing company Shnoop University, is also set to join the audit committee of the Nasdaq-listed business.
She joins Zynga’s CEO and COO, Mark Pincus and John Schappert, on the board. Other members include LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and former EA executive Bing Gordon.
Pincus said of the appointment “Ellen has great experience and insights operating web businesses at scale and brings a passion for consumer internet products.”
Siminoff said: “Zynga is truly about deep connections between people and the company has built a significant, engaged player community around the benefits of play and social.”
Zynga, which is understood to lead the race to acquire bwin.party-owned poker network Ongame, this week claimed top spot on Pokerscout’s inaugural play-money poker liquidity table.
After Pincus hinted at the company potentially entering into a partnership with a land-based gambling business earlier this year, sources in the US reported that it had begun talks with Wynn Resorts.
According to AppData its Texas Hold’Em Poker game remains the most popular app of its kind on Facebook, with more than 34m monthly active users.
