Two egaming sites hit by Malta LGA action
Mowjow Gaming suspended and Everleaf Gaming under scrutiny.
The Maltese Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) has suspended social gaming company Mowjow Gaming and issued sanctions against Everleaf Gaming, questioning the compliance of both sites.
The sanction against online poker network Everleaf Gaming follows an investigation that found “a number of irregularities” in its operations. The LGA said in statement on March 8 that it was monitoring the company closely to ensure its operation respects Maltese law.
The Everleaf network, which contains more than 100 skins, pulled out of the US market in February after receiving a cease and desist letter from the US Department of Homeland Security. It later pledged to repay American players.
Meanwhile, Mowjow Gaming and Mowjow Technology have both been suspended by the LGA as of March 9, meaning social-focused gaming site Mowjow.com is not currently licensed by the authority.
The LGA – a single regulatory body responsible for the governance of all gaming activities in Malta – has referred the case against Mowjow to local police in order to “initiate criminal procedures against the company and its shareholders.”
