Skrill sees 29% H1 revenue rise
Payments provider enjoys successful period which featured the acquisition of paysafecard.com.
Digital wallet provider Skrill has announced a 29% year-on-year revenue increase for the six months ended June 31 2012, according to results released today.
The company claims 135,000 merchants and 30 million customers use its payment system. Last week Bet365 agreed a deal to integrate Skrill’s 1-Tap payment solution which allows customers to pay with one click without re-entering login information or credit card details.
Skrill CEO Siegfried Heimgaertner said of the results: “Moving forward, we will continue to invest in new technology, capitalising on the growing importance of the mobile payment market, which can already be seen with Skrill 1-Tap, offering consumers instant payments with just one tap across all devices.
“We have also recently made some strategic acquisitions to expand our product offering. These acquisitions, along with developing our partnerships within the payment sector, will help to ensure that Skrill continues to go from strength to strength,” he added.
Skrill, formerly known as Moneybookers, reached an agreement earlier this year to acquire 100% of shares in prepaid voucher provider paysafecard.com, which will be the official payment provider sponsor of PokerStars’ European Poker Tour Season 9, after Skrill performed the role last year.
