Openbet LiveOdds creates a 'live' and event-responsive bet slip, but would benefit from better explanations for less-experienced users
ORBIS TECHNOLOGY in February launched LiveOdds “ a technology that can push live pricing and events updates directly to gaming sites and customer bet slips.
LiveOdds is feaÂtured on a platform that provides integration into existing or new websites and is supported by a wide range of browsers.
The technology alerts customers to changes in price or betting status directly streamed to a player’s screen. Changes in price and status on selections already added to the betting slip are animated and reflected instantÂly.
LiveOdds can react to all event changes, not just those events that are in-running.
Potentially, the customer is offered a seamÂless experience without the need to manually moniÂtor variables, such as odds changes. This reduces the occurrence of price change alerts by creating a ‘live’ and event-responsive bet slip.
However, much depends on the interÂface used by the client operator. The technolÂogy is already live for Paddy Power users.
Its use of red and blue highlights to indicate odds drifting or shortÂening in the events screen is not immediately clear. A key to explain this would be beneficial.
Also, ‘live’ changes that show up on the bet slip as red and blue arrows are too far away from the ‘odds’ column to which they relate. Plus, the rollover text, produced when the curÂsor moves over the arrows, is missing a trick as this should describe the nature of the odds change.
That said, the interface is customisable so these issues will not be true in all cases.
