Poll: Will recent indictments speed up US regulation?

Last week saw Calvin Ayre (pictured), James Philip, Derrick Maloney and David Ferguson become the latest individuals to be indicted by US authorities over illegal gambling activities.
It follows the Black Friday indictments which named individuals tied to PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker, while May 2011 saw charges levelled against principals of sites including BetED.
This all comes in a period where many remain hopeful of federal regulation in the United States, but does the latest round of indictments represent the final stage of US authorities ‘clearing the decks’ ahead of the introduction of a federal bill?
While state-by-state legislation continues to progress across the country, the exclusion of egaming elements from the recent payroll tax bill has seen hope fade from some quarters.
However despite this, and despite an impending presidential election rendering federal progress unlikely in the eyes of many, some remain hopeful that continued action against those taking US bets since UIGEA signifies a readiness to push ahead at the top level.
