Poll results: Zynga real-money to arrive in Q1 2013
Just 10% of voters anticipate real-money gaming launch before end of 2012.
Nearly two thirds of eGaming Review readers believe the launch of Zynga’s real-money offering will take place in the first quarter of 2013, as the operator prepares for its third-quarter conference call on 24 October.
Chief executive Mark Pincus revealed in July that the company hoped to roll out its inaugural real-money products in the first half of next year, subject to regulatory approval, and 63% of those polled anticipate the launch to take place in the early part of that six-month period.
Despite a rapidly falling share price and the departure of a number of executives including chief operating officer John Schappert and former Zynga Poker and Casino GM Lo Toney in recent months, just 10% of readers believe the operator is likely to enter the real-money realm before the end of this year.
A mere 13% believe that, while the H1 2013 target will be met, the first real-money bet will be placed with Zynga in the second quarter of the year.
The same proportion believe the launch will be delayed or ultimately cancelled, as readers seem convinced that the appointment of Maytal Ginsburg Olsha as real-money chief signifies a desire to make the step into online gambling sooner rather than later.
