Poll results: Virtual reality not yet ready for egaming success
More than three-quarters of respondents to this week's poll believe virtual reality is unlikely to make its RMG breakthrough in 2017
Virtual reality is not yet ready for a major egaming breakthrough in 2017, according to a majority of respondents to this week’s EGR poll.
More than three-quarters (80%) of voters believe there is unlikely to be a significnt shift in player behavioural habits next year, despite an increasing number of products finding their way on to the market.
Suppliers including Microgaming and NetEnt have been busy building products for VR, while the Alea Gaming’s award-winning SlotsMillions offers a VR gaming lobby and plans to build VR games.
However, the mood at EGR’s Future Digital summit last week was somewhat contrary to the outcome of this week’s poll results and many experts still believe it will one day become an egaming staple.
A panel featuring three virtual reality experts talked up the technology’s chances of making a dent in the egaming industry, with Stoiximan’s George Kourakos revealing his firm would be releasing VR products.
But only 20% of respondents to this week’s poll shared the optimism of the panel.
