Poll results: US indictments will speed up regulation

Following the indictments of Calvin Ayre (pictured), James Philip, Derrick Maloney and David Ferguson over alleged illegal gambling activities earlier this month, the majority of eGaming Review readers believe the US authorities’ action will speed up the country’s egaming regulatory process.

Two thirds of readers (65%) who voted in this week’s poll said the prospect of gaming regulation in the US moved a step closer as a result of the indictments.

However, 35% of respondents remain pessimistic about regulation speeding up any time soon, despite the apparent ‘clearing of the decks’ exercise by the US Department of Justice.

The bodog.com-related indictments follow the events of Black Friday last year which named individuals tied to PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker, while May saw charges levelled against principals of sites including BetED, bookmaker.com and truepoker.com.
