Paddys' head of special projects leaves for Uber
Nick Abrahams makes switch to taxi app firm after more than four years at Paddy Power
Paddy Power’s head of special projects Nick Abrahams has left to join mobile taxi booking business Uber, bringing to an end his four-and-a-half year tenure at the Irish operator.
Abrahams joined Paddy Power back in 2011 from Betfair where he had been head of commercial strategy and insight for two years, and previously strategy manager for Betfair’s gaming team.
He had been an integral part of Paddy Power’s mobile product drive, including the launch of standalone mobile and tablet casino app Roller.
His new strategy and planning role at Uber will be based in Amsterdam, with responsibility for the EMEA and APAC regions.
eGaming Review understands Paddy Power will not appoint a direct replacement for Abrahams. Instead his responsibilities will be absorbed by others in the product team, which has recently been restructured by chief product officer and former head of online Peter O’Donovan.
Following the departure of long-serving CEO Patrick Kennedy last year Paddy Power overhauled its digital management team with director of operations Johnny Hartnett becoming managing director of online and O’Donovan now overseeing product across the entire group.
App-based taxi service Uber was founded in 2009 and is now available in 140 cities across 39 countries, with total revenues estimated to reach US$10bn by the end 2015.
