Mor Weizer: Playtech still in active acquisition talks
CEO says firm remains in discussions with "various companies" despite today's purchase of SSBT supplier
Playtech is still in active “acquisition talks” with a number of companies after completing its fourth major deal of the year today, its chief executive Mor Weizer has said.
Speaking to eGaming Review this morning following its ?115m deal for self-service betting terminals (SSBTs) provider Best Gaming Technology (BGT), Weizer said the supplier giant would continue its discussions with a number of unnamed parties and would not be afraid to use its “very strong” balance sheet again.
“Whenever we are able to announce, we will do so in due course but what I will say is that Playtech remains acquisitive and we are in discussions with various companies,” the chief executive said.
“M&A is an inherent part of our strategy; we have bought more than 20 companies in the last eight or 10 years and we definitely believe the right thing for Playtech to do is grow organically and at the same time accelerate the growth of Playtech through acquisitions,” Wezier said.
M&A has formed a key part of Playtech’s growth strategy in recent years, and most recently targeted the Nordics and online slots with its ?38m acquisition of Quickspin.
The supplier also acquired London-based games developer and platform provider GECO Gaming this year.
Earlier today Playtech announced it had acquired BGT as part of a major push within the supplier’s retail and omni-channel divisions.
And Weizer said the BGT business would become an important aspect of the supplier’s omni-channel strategy in the future.
“The technology will become a part of the industry-leading Playtech ONE omni-channel offering which enables players to enjoy a similar gaming experience across all products and devices, using the Playtech infrastructure with a single account and wallet,” he said.
“In markets where online sports betting exist, we see an opportunity to deploy both as one single offering, including the SSBTs and retail solutions fully integrated with our leading online platform,” Weizer added.
