Mobile drives Camelot digital sales up 18%
The UK National Lottery operator posts £713.8m in H1 interactive sales as mobile sales increase 72% YoY
UK lottery operator Camelot has reported an 18.5% rise in digital sales for the six months ended 26 September as investment in its new online and mobile platform continues to pay off.
According to figures released today, the operator’s H1 interactive and subscription sales increased £111.3m to £713.8m following strong double-digit growth from mobile.
Mobile sales soared 72% compared to the same period last year and combined with tablets now accounts for more than 35% of all Camelot’s direct channels.
“Thanks to very strong growth across our mobile channel and in our GameStore category, we’ve made an extremely positive start to the financial year,” Andy Duncan, CEO of Camelot, said.
“As we head into the second half of the year, we’re determined to build on this impressive performance,” he added.
Last year Camelot, which was awarded the UK National Lottery contract in 1994, announced the launch of a new mobile-optimised online platform and a redesigned National Lottery website.
The operator’s national-lottery.co.uk website now boasts more than seven million players and is currently Europe’s largest online lottery by sales, and one of the top 10 e-commerce sites in the UK.
Total National Lottery sales across all channels were £3.6bn for the six-month period, an increase of £145.7m compared to last year.
