King.com acquires Jadestone Mobile spin-off
Social operator acquires mobile games developer " reportedly launching IPO next year.
Social gaming operator King.com has acquired Stockholm-based mobile games developer Fabrication Games in a bid to develop a mobile games offering.
Technology blog Tech Crunch reports that the terms of the deal have not been announced, but King is thought to have acquired Fabrication’s 12 staff, products and development resources.
The company was founded as a spin-off of Jadestone Mobile, with Jonas Lindqvist currently serving as chief executive. It offers a range of skill games for the Android and iOS platforms including Sprinkle and strategy game World in War.
King.com is currently the fourth-largest games developer on Facebook after Zynga, EA and Wooga in terms of monthly active users, and is reportedly looking to launch an initial public offering on the NASDAQ stock exchange next year. Tech Crunch reports that King CEO Riccardo Zacconi (pictured) is searching for a Silicon Valley-based board member, and is overseeing a change in internal financial reporting to comply with approved accounting practices.
