Interwetten revenues rise on Greek return
Addition of slots in Spain also helps operator post 19% revenue increase
Interwetten said strong performances in Greece and Spain helped the firm to “the most successful year in the company’s history” as revenues increased 19% during 2015.
Gross gaming revenues climbed to ?55m (?41.3m) for the 12 months to 31 December 2015, while betting turnover was up 20% to ?951m (?713m).
The firm said its re-entry into Greece – previously the firm’s second most important market – in December 2014 had significantly enhanced its performance.
Interwetten was able to re-enter the Greek market via a partnership with a local firm which holds an interim licence.
“The return to the Greek market helped Interwetten to diversify its market structure and pushed our revenue growth additionally,” Werner Becher, spokesman for the board of directors, said.
The operator also said its acquisition of a Spanish slots licence in June had helped its Spanish operation to a 68% rise in casino revenues for Q4 2015.
“Although the Spanish market is very competitive, and although Interwetten is not investing as much money into marketing as some of its competitors do, Interwetten successfully defended its top-10 market position in 2015,” Becher said.
And in the firm’s core German-speaking markets, Becher added that an increase in marketing efficiency saw a 29% year-on-year increase in net gaming revenues.
