GB Group appoints CTO
Identity management specialist appoints former Betfair development director Tony Stansfield as its new chief technology officer.
Identity management specialist GB Group has appointed former Betfair development director Tony Stansfield as its new chief technology officer.
Stansfield has more than 20 years’ experience in developing software systems and implementing technology strategies for a number of organisations including Betfair and the Royal Bank of Scotland. He joins GB Group from JD Williams where he has spent three years leading the applications support and development team, comprising 110 people and where he was responsible for adopting efficiency improvements and business benefits through improved technology.
Prior to this he was development director at Betfair, reporting directly to the board, with responsibility for software development for customer products and services with an annual budget in excess of £32m.
GB Group has acquired a number of companies in the last year including Capscan in November, a supplier of customer registration and address management software solutions for £11.2m; Advanced Checking Services in July for £420,000, an electronic driving licence checking business; and sofrtware business Data Discoveries for £610,000 again in July last year.
Through these acquisitions, as well as organic growth, GB Group is able to verify the identity more than two billion people across 15 countries, the company said in a statement.
“With this growth and diversity, the need has arisen for a highly experienced CTO to further define the group’s technology strategy, to align this with business goals and to articulate the strategy to clients and partners,” it said.
A key element of Stansfield’s role as CTO will be to “guarantee that innovation, quality and excellence continue to be incorporated into the group’s technologies, in order to maintain GB Group’s leadership in the identity management space”, it added.
Richard Law, CEO of GB Group said: “One of our main business objectives is to progress our core and acquired technologies, in addition to developing new products and services that can be incorporated into the existing suite of identity management solutions.
“The most successful businesses are those which recognise the value of understanding their customers’ identities, and we are committed to providing innovative technologies that enable them to connect, communicate and transact with consumers safely, responsibly and profitably.”
