Gambling Commission appoints new executive director
Tim Miller to join in August from the Local Government Ombudsman
Great Britain’s Gambling Commission has appointed Tim Miller as its new executive director, with oversight of corporate affairs, stakeholder engagement and the regulator’s evidence and analysis team.
Miller, who is currently head of policy and communications at the Local Government Ombudsman, will be joining the Commission at the end of August.
Miller has a history in public policy, with experience at the Centre for Public Scrutiny, the Citizens Advice Bureau and the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
The Commission’s chief executive Sarah Harrison said: “I am delighted to welcome Tim to the Gambling Commission leadership team. He brings excellent communications, policy and research expertise to the Commission’s vital work to help keep gambling fair, safe and free from crime.”
The appointment adds to a period of significant employee turnover at the Commission, with Harrison herself only being in the chief executive role for six months.
The UK government’s Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport also recently appointed five new commissioners to the GC board, taking the total to 13 members, with experience from a range of sectors including finance and the NHS.
