ComTrade secures Alderney gambling licence
Slovenian firm receives category two licence after spinning off egaming division.
ComTrade has been awarded an online gambling licence by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), the software provider has announced.
The news comes after the Slovenian firm announced that it was to spin off its egaming arm as a separate business in January this year, having registered the division as a company in the jurisdiction in 2012. At the time the decision to form ComTrade Gaming was described as a move to allow the business to focus on developing its own intellectual property and product portfolio, focusing on systems, games and its iGaming Platform.
Its category two licence was awarded after the business passed a series of approval phases, run by AGCC-accredited independent testing firm SIQ. ComTrade’s director of products and solutions Ales Gornjec described receiving approval as “a huge step” for the company, adding that it highlights the company’s desire to “expand [its] leading product offering on a global level and into new markets”.
The Government of Alderney’s director of ecommerce development Robin Le Prevost added he was “delighted” to announce ComTrade as the island’s latest licensee.
“[ComTrade] brings a fresh approach to the industry and we have been impressed by the wealth of experience from other sectors such as banking and telecoms [it brings] to the provision of technology solutions to the gaming sector,” Le Prevost added.
