BetStars makes US sports play with 300 new markets
Amaya-owned sportsbook upgrades offering on NFL, MLB and NCAA
BetStars has announced plans to upgrade its US sports offerings, with the addition of more than 300 new pre-game and live markets across the NFL, MLB and college football.
The NFL markets â including âFirst Touchdown Scorer’ and points spreads for every quarter â are already live ahead of three games being played in London in October. MLB and college football markets will follow “in the weeks to come”.
The new markets – to be priced by Don Best – are the first major announcement from the Amaya-owned sportsbook since new managing director Zeno Ossko joined the firm from mybet on 12 September.
“The globalisation of US sports has seen considerable growth in the level of interest in American sports on this side of the Atlantic,” Ossko said.
“The addition of these new US markets is an exciting step forward in giving BetStars customers more chances to test their sports smarts, both before and during games.”
BetStars generated just under $12m revenues in the first half of 2016, with Amaya admitting the need to improve its competitiveness in the second half of 2016 following a variety of technical issues.
Amaya CEO Rafi Ashkenazi recently told EGR the company had “underestimated some of the challenges involved in launching a sportsbook”, with Ossko brought in to “make the necessary adjustments”.
