Gaming Innovation Group in senior management shake-up
Firm appoints new Group COO and also managing director for its Guts.com brand
Gaming Innovation Group (GIG) has made a trio of changes to its senior management team, including the hire of Mobenga CEO and chairman Mikael ??ngman as its new chief operating officer.
??ngman will join GIG on 1 September while the firm has also promoted Katja Laaksonen from her current role as chief marketing officer at Guts.com to managing director of the brand.
GIG chief executive Robin Reed, who until today acted as MD for the Guts.com brand, will now focus solely on his position as CEO.
Reed said the appointments were the result of a rapid period of growth at GIG and the subsequent need to strengthen its management team.
“GIG has undergone transformational change as we have evolved from an affiliate, to an operator and ultimately the technology firm we are today,” Reed said.
“Crucial to our continued expansion is to couple the drive and innovation in which GIG is known, with operational excellence.
“Katja and Mikael have a proven track record and both represent the key qualities we are looking for in our top management,” he added.
The firm said its headcount had grown from 12 to more than 160 in recent years with the new look management team to have greater accountability for its three business areas of gaming, digital marketing and cloud services.
??ngman, who spent five years at the Playtech-owned mobile sports betting supplier Mobenga, said he was joining “the most promising player on the market”.
“With my strong experience from Mobenga and Playtech, I am confident to deliver structure and growth to further strengthen the group,” he added.
