Camelot adds ticket scanning to UK National Lottery app
New feature enables players to check results as "lite" version of app is also added to Google Play Store
Camelot has added a ticket scanning feature to its UK National Lottery mobile app, as well as debuting a “lite” app on Google’s Play Store.
The new feature allows users to check draw results by tapping the “scan ticket” button and scanning the QR code on the National Lottery ticket.
The updated app was developed in partnership with barcode scanning firm Scandit and follows usability studies to refine the user journey.
In addition to the ticket scanning feature, the operator has also entered the Google Play Store for the first time with a “lite” version of its Android application.
The firm said the new results checking app meets Google’s restrictions on gambling applications, allowing it to reach the majority of the UK’s Android user base and obtain a “substantial” increase in installed users.
“The enhanced mobile app is great news for UK retail customers, allowing them to check their tickets on the go,” Tim Copper, digital director at Camelot UK, said.
“The seamless delivery of the app by Camelot Global is testament to their lean and agile approach to delivering our digital requirements.
“Their ability to generate a whole new version of the application – Android Lite – is testament to the hard work Camelot Global has put into creating a flexible application that can be deployed in multiple formats and configurations to meet the changing needs of the UK National Lottery,” he added.
Earlier this year, Camelot reported an 18% year-on-year rise in digital sales to ?1.58bn for the year ended 31 March 2016.
