Tool up to stand out
This year will be a big one for the industry as new technology, gaming concepts and a recovering sector converge into a testing lab for new ideas, say Baddamedia president Meir Moses, who warns that at the same time the market is to become more competitive - and only those prepared to embrace changes will stand out...
2010 WILL BE a big year for our industry as technologies, gaming concepts and a recovering sector converge into one big testing lab that will set the tone for the next few years.
Live gaming (casino and sportsbook) and bingo have clearly showcased themselves as promising products to watch.
In particular, the winning combination of live bingo will develop into a mature and hugely compelling offering, providing a myriad of ongoing wagering opportunities and customer interaction from within a compact, browser-based user interface.
Owing to the basic format of calling electronically generated numbers, presenters can entertain and interact with literally hundreds of online players within liquid networks.
This facilitates personally acknowledging players and winners, highlighting in-game competitions and marketing campaigns, introducing celebrity personalities and other interactions unavailable with the traditional live casino products.
Live bingo clearly offers incredible scalability and revenue-generating opportunities compared with the restrictions associated with live blackjack or roulette.
There are already companies in the UK, such as Atac Media, running live presenter bingo for tens of thousands within their network of operators. But the model also works perfectly for dedicated standalone solutions and, of course, future localised broadcasting in key languages, offering rapid expansion into new territories.
Recognisable 80- and 90-ball formats support rapid game and prize turnover while players can launch and play side games through the ‘green screen’ interface that minimises typically demanding bandwidth requirements yet increases site and bingo room ‘brandability’.
Interchangeable backgrounds can support event-based or seasonal marketing efforts or even user-driven feature customisation.
This amounts to a significant advance in how live streaming technology is being used in the remote gaming space, and these kinds of products will set operators apart in what is an increasingly competitive space with little differentiation and even tighter profit margins.
